Hubby took half the day off work today so we decided to go for Chinese dimsum for breakfast. Dimsum is usually served for breakfast or lunch but the Perfect Chinese Restaurant in Toronto serves it 24 hours a day. I like going with at least four people just so you can order a variety of different foods. Today there was only three but I think we did alright. Unfortunately my friend wasn't adventurous enough to want to try chicken feet or beef inards but we were stuffed by the time we finished. Of course two hours later I was hungry again. Dimsum also makes me sleepy for some reason...maybe it's the MSG...or the excess carbs.
Here is what we ordered today...
Har Gow - Shrimp Dumplings
Deep fried Tofu stufffed with shrimp
Deep fried squid
Beef Cheung Fun
Garlic ribs served on rice
Shrimp and snowpea leaves in a dumpling
Steamed minced pork wrapped in fried bean curd
Curry Octopus
What a feast. The minced pork and shrimp dumplings look especially good.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a breakfast feast! Very yummy!
ReplyDeleteI am so envious! We haven't been to dimsum in ages - gotta go soon or the craving will be the end of me!
ReplyDeletewow, looks good and must be delicious!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm...dimsum. i've been craving for some lately.
ReplyDeleteSuperb!!!!looks delicious
ReplyDeleteI adore Dim Sum always go to China Town in NYC when we are there, wish we had it in Winston Salem Nc sob sob, Toronto is a great place for food isn't it, Rebecca
ReplyDeleteI am sooo envious - I love dimsum and have not had it in years. We used to live in Vancouver where I developed my love for sushi and dimsum but we have been transferred all over the country in the past 5 years (hubby is with the RCMP) and while I have been able to develop a taste for other regional cuisines (like musk ox in the north and shellfish here in the Eastcoast) I still have these hankerings for dimsum and sushi. I guess I just get to feast with my eyes for now... thanks for the photos, though...
ReplyDeleteWait, you and your husband ate ALL of that? That sounds crazy! And awesome that you probably had amazing leftovers.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like pretty perfect dimsum!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I just had dimsum over the weekend and tried fried tofu with scallops for the first time. It was very good.
ReplyDeletemmm . . . dim sum is the best food for groups. So cool you could get 24 hours.
ReplyDeleteReading that post and looking at those pictures just made me hungry.
ReplyDeleteThese look like a very heavy breakfast. After all that food, I would have someone to carry me over. They all look lovely.

ReplyDeleteLove tim-sum. It's a Sunday affair for my family :)
ReplyDeleteWhere's the Beef (Tripe)?!!
ReplyDeleteI LOOVE dim sum. So much that it's probably a good thing that I live so far away from any good dim sum restaurants. The fried squid and har gau are also my favorites. And deep fried taro balls. And it's totally MSG that makes you sleepy, I once fell asleep in a 2 person meeting after having Chinese food for lunch!
I LOVE dim sum!!! Shrimp Hargow is like my favorite dish, then, again, so are alot of the items you had....so jealous :)
ReplyDeleteWow..delicious dim sum. All my favourites! Thanks for sharing those mouth watering pics :P Makes me hungry :))
ReplyDeleteBeef Cheong Fun? hmm....interesting!
