Can anyone tell me what the real name of these hot peppers are? In West Indian cooking they are called weary weary peppers. I don't know if I've even spelled this correctly. They are smaller than an American nickel. It would be nice to know the correct name since I will be posting quite a few recipes with this pepper.

We usually call them "coffee peppers" (shape and size) in the Caribbean. but I know in the Thai and Viet food stores they go by a different name.

I've only seen ones like that that are mild and referred to as "cherry peppers" but that's probably not what those are.
ReplyDeleteMichele maybe right, I've seen those in stores and the label says hot cherry peppers.
ReplyDeleteDon't know much about my peppers. If I saw these I would have guess they were just regular cherries.
ReplyDeleteI've seen them called "Cherry bombs" at my local farmers market. This is my first time on your site. I'm so glad I visited!
ReplyDeleteCherry peppers are a very beautiful pod type pepper resembling the shape of a round fleshy cherry and measuring about 1 3/4 inch in diameter. The heat ranges from moderately mild to medium heat. A mildly hot pepper with traces of sweetness. Peppers are fleshy and heavily seeded. It matures from green to red. It is considered an extremely good processing, pickling and home garden pepper.

ReplyDeleteI've never seen this pepper before. Now I'm curious, I'll snoop around Chinatown this weekend to see if I can find these. They almost look like cherry tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteGot some today from a friend who called them Weary peppers. These babies have a bit of fire!!!! They are not on the same level as the Ghost Chili and Habs but just the same, worth having in your collection of chilis.
