Bubble Tea - Go for Tea - Toronto

I can't believe we managed to drink our bubble tea after Japanese Buffet but we did. My girlfriend loves bubble tea and so does my daughter so we headed to Go for Tea. It's our absolute favourite bubble tea cafe. Bubble tea originated from Taiwan and are gelatinous tapioca balls that are added to your drink whether hot or cold. Hot...you eat them with a spoon and cold...you slurp them with a straw.

The bubbles are a bit chewy and sweet. It's important to choose a popular bubble tea cafe because I've had soggy and tasteless bubbles before and it totally ruins the entire experience. Bubble tea can be quite pricey. One large glass of bubble tea can be almost as expensive as a fast food meal. However it's a fun afternoon treat instead of heading to the usual coffee shop.

We ordered our usual Honeydew slush with bubbles. There's an extensive drink menu but we tend to stick to our favourite.

Pictured above from left to right are: strawberry green tea with bubbles, green tea with coconut jelly, black milk tea, honeydew slush with bubbles, and chocolate slush.

  5. I love the tapioca pearls, but a lot of people find it gross- I think part of it's the surprise factor of having them pop into your mouth through a straw, which I think is pretty cool!

  6. The first time that I tried bubble tea was in Chinatown in San Francisco, and at first I was not sure about it, but by the time I was done with the tea I was hooked. Wonderful!

  8. LOOOOOOVE bubble tea. I put on 5 lbs in college being addicted to this drink/meal replacement. I totally know what you mean about the tapioca needing to be perfectly cooked - I've been disappointed many a time. I actually just featured bubble tea on my Weird Food Wednesdays on April Fools Day!

  9. Honeydew slush sounds so good! I usually don't have enough room for bubble tea as the only place I've found it here is at restaurants (so of course, I order food first!). Now, I've got a craving!

  10. I actually went my cousins bubble tea shop yesterday and my daughter had baby mango bubble tea. However, those little tapioca balls just don't agree with me. I think they remind me to the days of cleaning out my friends rabbit cage. Just can't get pass it. :/

  11. Bubble tea is really popular in Hawaii, a good compliment to our warm weather...honeydew or as the producers here call it melona...sooo good, cold and soothing! Thanks for your information!
