Whenever my sister is in town she and her husband always crave Chinese food. We went to my dad's favourite place last night. The Royal Chinese Restaurant is very busy and there are always people waiting in line for a table. We usually arrive early so that we don't have to wait.
I am never disappointed in the food. It comes out fast and piping hot. Everything we ordered last night was full of flavour and fresh.
Here is a rundown of what we devoured!
Complimentary pork bone and dried vegetable soup - you can see the reflection of all the specials posted on the wall.
Deep fried little fish - I'm not sure what this is called in English
Boiled shrimp served with sweetened soy sauce concoction - the shrimp was so sweet!
Sweet and sour pork chop
Spicy eggplant, chicken and tofu hotpot
Hollow vegetable with fermented bean curd - this is one of my favourite summer vegetable dishes.
Deep fried oysters with spicy pork
Chinese veggie with fish
Deep fried crispy whole chicken
What a feast! I'm sure you enjoyed every morsel. I know I would have :-).
ReplyDeleteMmmm...yummy! Those deep-fried little fishies remind me of something similar in the Philippines called "dilis". The only different is that it's not coated in batter. Just a straight deep-dry.
ReplyDeleteAre they the same fish they use to make fish paste? I remember once I go so excited at the Asian market when I bought dried shrimp, but did not know what to do with it, but made a soup and noodles, my son loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo with the reflection!
This is why I love visiting your site - I get to dine vicariously at the best Chinese places in Toronto! 8-D
ReplyDeleteDelicious dishes! I would love to try the deep fried oysters with spicy pork!
ReplyDeleteIs this place on Spadina? I was just up in Toronto and went to a Vietnamese restaurant there. It was amazing. I just posted about it.
ReplyDeleteActually this restaurant is in the Agincourt Chinatown area...on Sheppard Ave East. Reasonably priced and always delicious!
